Job summary

Havenwyck Hospital in Auburn Hills, MI, is seeking a dynamic Charge Nurse (RN) for a full-time night shift on the adult unit. You will supervise nursing staff, ensure quality patient care, and coordinate shift operations with the Nurse Manager.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
• Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan required.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Three to five years of psychiatric experience with one to two year of management experience preferred.
• Current certification in Non-violent Crisis Intervention preferred.
• Current certification in BLS/CPR required.
• Employees must be in good standing to be considered for internal transfers.

• Adjust staffing as needed to ensure proper coverage according to designated staff/patient ratios in collaboration with Nurse Manager.
• Responsible for personally covering a shift if adequate staffing cannot be found.
• Monitors and evaluates nursing care given.
• Participates with the Nurse Manager and other nursing managers in the development of therapeutic programs for the unit.
• Participates in orientation program for new employees and in-service education for shift employees when needed.
• Receives the intake information and verifies the admission with the physician and Intake Department.

• Serves as a preceptor for new employees, or coordinates orientation with the preceptor designated by the Nurse Manager.
• Receives the intake information and verifies the admission with the physician and Intake Department.
