Job summary

Norman Regional Health System is seeking a registered nurse for the NICU. The 25-bed Level III unit cares for infants 23-42 weeks and supports a NICU transport team.

You will perform comprehensive nursing care, coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, and participate in ongoing education and specialized neonatal care. Requirements include Oklahoma RN license, BLS and ACLS, with a Nurse Residency Program for those with less than one year of experience.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or ADN required; BSN or MSN preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year RN experience preferred.
  • Oklahoma RN license required; BLS/ACLS training during orientation; maintained during employment.
  • RNs with less than one year experience must complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and reassess health care needs for patients across age groups.
  • Analyze nursing data to determine diagnoses and expected outcomes.
  • Provide nursing care and coordinate interventions per evidence-based practice.
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust care plans accordingly.
  • Serve as department leader when Nurse Manager is absent; maintain ACLS and promote bedside handoff at shifts.

  • Evening differential $2.50/hr.
  • Night differential $3.00/hr.
  • Weekend differential $3.00/hr.

HPX NICU is a 25 bed Level III Unit caring for infants 23-42 weeks gestation. We have a staff of 5 Neonatologist and experienced Nurse Practitioner working along side experience RN's who specialize in Neonatal Care.

In addition, we have a NICU ground transport team who are able to provide care to critical infants in need.

Job Summary
  • Assessment/reassessment - Systematically assesses / reassesses the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
  • Nursing Diagnosis and Outcomes - Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
  • Implementation and Coordination of Care - Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgement guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations and policy.
  • Evaluation - Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts and reach sound conclusions.
  • Professional Practice.
  • Serves as department leader alongside and in absence of Nurse Manager.
  • Maintain ACLS.
  • RN will oversee and promote bedside handoff at shift changes.
Qualifications
Education
  • Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
Experience
  • 1 year experience as a Registered Nurse preferred

(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).

Licensure/Certification
  • Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment
  • RNs with less than one year experience are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program
