Job summary

Grady Health System is seeking a Charge Nurse to join our nursing leadership team. This role reports to the Clinical Staff Manager and plans, directs, and evaluates nursing care within a designated unit or shift.

You will coordinate staff activities, assign tasks, and educate on patient care while striving to improve throughput, quality, and customer service. A BSN is preferred, with Georgia RN licensure and ACLS/BLS as required for critical care areas.

Qualifications

• RN license in Georgia required.
• BSN preferred; bachelor's degree or higher encourages leadership in charge role.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required for critical care areas.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and evaluates nursing care in a unit or shift.
• Coordinates unit activities; assigns work to nursing staff.
• Educates nursing staff on patient care and monitors outcomes.
• Delegates and readjusts patient assignments to optimize throughput.
• Implements emergency procedures as necessary.

Education

Bachelor's Degree In Nursing (BSN) or equivalent education and experience

Bachelor's Degree In Nursing (BSN) Preferred

Registered Nurse (RN) License in State of Georgia

ASN + 4+ years direct patient care RN experience including in a charge role

RN with BSN + 2+ years direct patient care RN experience including in a charge role

American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Card

Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for specified areas

ICU exp - 2 years required for all Critical Care areas

Job Summary

The Charge Nurse reports to the Clinical Staff Manager, and plans, directs, and evaluates the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit or during an assigned shift. Coordinates the activities of the unit and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff. Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. The Charge Nurse delegates, coordinates and readjusts patient assignments. Consistent with the direction from the Clinical Staff Manager, works to enhance the throughput, quality and customer service in his/her area. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree In Nursing (BSN) or equivalent education and experience.
• Bachelor's Degree In Nursing (BSN) Preferred
• Registered Nurse (RN) License in State of Georgia
• If a Registered Nurse (RN) with an Associate's degree in Nursing (ASN), four (4) or more years direct patient care RN experience including in a charge role.
• RN with a BSN, two (2) or more years direct patient care RN experience including in a charge role preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Card.
• Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required for the following areas with 90-days or employment or transfer:
• All Critical Care areas: ICU exp- 2 years required
• All Intermediate Care areas Post Acute Care Unite (PACU)
