Job summary

USPI North Houston Endoscopy & Surgery is seeking a motivated Charge Nurse (RN) to lead our perioperative nursing team in a fast-paced outpatient surgical setting. This full-time role oversees daily operations, coordinates patient flow, and provides direct nursing care as needed.

Position requires weekdays only with no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on the surgical schedule and day flow.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Texas RN license required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• 1–3 years clinical nursing experience preferred (Pre-Op, PACU or ambulatory surgery).
• GI/endoscopy experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate care in a high-acuity outpatient setting.
• Strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
• Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in perioperative nursing care, including IV therapy and post-anesthesia monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and support nursing staff in PreOp, OR, and PACU areas to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
• Oversee daily clinical operations, including staffing, patient assignments, and workflow coordination.
• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and monitor vital signs as required.
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
• Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, anesthesia, and post-operative care.
• Support and monitor compliance with quality assurance, infection control, and patient safety initiatives.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff.

Skills

Required Skills:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
