AdventHealth in Wesley Chapel, FL is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive patient care on a night shift. You will perform assessments, monitor labs, implement individualized care plans, and assist with bedside procedures in a high-quality hospital setting.

The role requires an RN with 1+ hospital experience, BLS certification, and strong collaboration with the care team. Leadership experience and OC/Nursing certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• Must use abstract reasoning to assess patient status and adjust care.
• Proficient with standard Windows PC applications.
• Supervision experience required.
• Maintain current nursing license and unit knowledge.
• Identify and solve real/potential problems in the service.
• Engage in or lead project teams and committees as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document accurate initial patient assessment per unit standard.
• Monitor patient lab work for trends and report abnormalities.
• Develop, prioritize, and document an individualized care plan with patient/family.
• Administer and monitor IV medications and infusions.
• Assist physicians with bedside procedures as needed.
• Transport patients to other facilities or procedures as required.
• Demonstrate safe and competent medication administration.

Job Description:

Performs and documents accurate initial assessment per unit standard. Observes and monitors patient lab work for trends and reports abnormal lab tests to the appropriate physician and obtains appropriate interventions. Performs and documents ongoing patient assessment which accurately reflects patients' physical and mental status. Develops, prioritizes, and documents a plan of care that is individualized and involves patient, family, and/or significant other in goal setting per unit standards. Administers, adjusts, and monitors response to IV medication infusions and IV medications in a safe, competent and independent manner. Responds and participates in unit and hospital code situations. Assists the physician with the various bedside procedures performed on the unit, such as CVP placement, hemodialysis catheter insertion, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bone marrow biopsy and chest tube insertion. Accompanies patients as assigned for transport to other facilities, hospitals, or procedures. Demonstrates ability to administer medications as ordered. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes. [Required]

• Consults with patients/families through primary nurse request, direct family request and/or direct assessment of patient/family response to hospitalization. [Required]
• Assesses patient/significant other survey responses regarding nursing care and services. [Required]
• Collaborates with the department of education and training to plan for orientation of new personnel and unit specific education/in-service as documented. [Required]
• Monitors the mandatory educational activities of personnel on the unit to ensure individual and unit compliance. [Required]
• Meets with the director on an ongoing basis to discuss plans, progress, problems, and needs of unit. [Required]
• In collaboration with the director, is responsible for effective and efficient fiscal management of department operations to ensure proper utilization of organizational and financial resources.
• Manages hours worked, including overtime for all unit personnel.
• Monitors and controls supply use. [Required]
• In collaboration with the leader, is responsible for department’s operational excellence; assures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and professional standards. [Required]
• Collaborates with the nurse leader to establish department policies and procedures that reflect the organization’s standards. [Required]
• Manages human resources to ensure quality services and promote positive employee relations.
• Maintains effective and appropriate staffing by monitoring employee turnover, overtime and absenteeism.
• Employee performance appraisals are completed thoroughly and submitted on time, as assigned.
• Follows human resources policies to implement progressive discipline, when necessary.
• Collaborates with human resources on the recruitment and selection of qualified employment candidates.
• Communication with staff is effective, resolving conflicts that may hamper relations and productivity, as observed by nurse leader.
• Attends and/or leads codes according to policy.

• 8 hours Stroke Education within 6 months of hire date, then annually [Preferred]
