Are you an ambitious Charge technologist looking for an opportunity? This is an exciting time to be part of the inaugural MRI team at Brockville General Hospital.

Reporting to the Manager, Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiovascular Diagnostics, we are seeking an MRI Technologist with superior theoretic and technological knowledge related to MRI, the overall operations of the service, and a deep commitment to a safe MRI environment. A Charge Technologist is immediately required to assist with policy and procedure updates, WTIS knowledge, scheduling, staff safety training, the physical, technical, and operational set up of the service and mentoring of the other MRI Technologists.

Requirements
Education and Experience
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario
  • Graduate of an accredited magnetic resonance imaging program
  • Minimum of 5 years full-time experience as an MRI technologist required.
  • Minimum of 2 years full time experience as an MRI Charge technologist required.
  • Experience writing policies, procedures, and task lists required.
  • WTIS knowledge
  • Clearance and knowledge of clearing implants and scan conditions.
  • Scheduling efficiency experience, positive coaching and development experience with staff and students required.
  • Knowledge of how to protocol requisitions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Must have superior theoretical and technological knowledge related to MRI
  • Must have knowledge of functioning of DI and cardiovascular diagnostics departments
  • Must show evidence of maintaining clinical competence through continuing education.
  • Must be able to lift (coils up to 35 lbs), bend and turn without restrictions as required to perform duties
  • Must exhibit excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills and abilities.
  • Must be able to lead a meeting and / or huddle
  • Must have a desire to learn and collaborate within a team environment.
  • Must be an advocate for patients, staff and the department.
  • Must have superior customer service commitment when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other member of the community and public.
Duties include and are not limited to
  • Perform all the duties of an MRI technologist
  • Ensure the MRI service is operating in accordance with the Canadian Association of Radiologists standards, Accreditation Canada standards, Health Canada.
  • Under the direction of management, oversees the day-to-day operations of the service.
  • Perform and record quality assurance procedures
  • Review all requisitions, and gather additional information for special patient populations
  • Work with the radiologist to determine the imaging protocol, prioritization and any safety considerations
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of the MRI unit
  • Develop and update policies, procedures and forms
  • Organize and lead safety training for all staff who could enter the MRI Suite
  • Collaborate with the vendor, PACS administrator, IMIT, quality and risk, other DI charge technologists and leadership.
