Job summary

Children's National Hospital seeks a Charge Master Specialist to coordinate and maintain the hospital's Charge Description Master and related master files. You will apply CPT/HCPCS and revenue codes to ensure accurate, compliant charging and optimal revenue realization.

You will educate departments, monitor charge activity, and resolve coding discrepancies while supporting process improvements and system updates within a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in charge capture, coding or CDM in a hospital environment.
• Experience coordinating a charge master system and related coding practices.
• Strong knowledge of CPT/HCPCS and revenue code assignment for regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and maintain the Charge Description Master (CDM) and Room/Bed Master files.
• Assign accurate CPT/HCPCS and revenue codes to ensure compliant charging and pricing.
• Educate and support clinical and administrative departments on CDM changes and revenue optimization.
• Monitor charge volumes and posting lag days; investigate and resolve code errors.
• Lead or participate in projects to improve billing accuracy and processes.
