Job summary

Luminus, Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a self-motivated Characterization Engineer to measure and characterize Laser Diode and LED products. You will run optical and electrical tests, check component quality, and assist senior engineers with laser diode and LED design.

This role emphasizes coordinating product testing, setting up test benches, writing clear reports, and communicating results to product teams. A MS/PhD in physics or optical engineering plus 2–5 years in optics is required.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Physics or related field.
• 2–5 years of relevant optics/photonics experience.
• Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics and optoelectronics.
• Experience characterizing Laser Diodes.
• Strong data analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate product testing for Laser Diodes and LED products.
• Test packaged chips for optical power, wavelength, beam shape, voltage, and thermal characteristics.
• Set up optical and electrical test benches and develop characterization tools.
• Write clear technical reports and advise product development teams on performance.
