Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley seeks a Youth Development Specialist- Character & Leadership to supervise Club members and deliver high-yield art activities.

Under the Program Director, you will support safety, program development, and volunteer guidance to create a positive, outcome-driven Club experience.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Passion for working with youth.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing needs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and cooperative working skills.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite and comfortable with new technology.
• If 21 or older, maintains a valid driver's license and meets eligibility to drive Club vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Develops, organizes, and facilitates programs and activities utilizing a formal curriculum.
• Directly runs programming and high-yield activities in assigned area.
• Facilitate programs that inspire youth to develop positive character traits, embrace leadership opportunities, and foster inclusive attitudes.
• Plan and coordinate leadership projects, community service initiatives and other events that celebrate diversity.
• Administers outcome measurement tools.
• Delivers programs with enthusiastic, high-energy, positive attitude.
• Some travel between BGCAZ Branches, schools and community sites.

Details

This is a part-time position, working approximately 10-25 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Paid training and orientation are required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Youth Development Specialist- Character & Leadership is responsible for the safety and supervision of Club members. Under the direction of the Program Director, the Youth Development Specialist delivers quality programs and high-yield art specific activities to Club members. Utilizes the organization's mission, vision, and values to set members up for success and provide an outcome-driven Club experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to program development and facilitation, program area safety and cleanliness, and providing guidance to volunteers. If 21 or older, responsibilities may include transporting members.

JOB RESPONSBILITIES:

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develops, organizes, and facilitates programs and activities utilizing a formal curriculum.

• Adheres to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley's policies and procedures.

• Maintains Club equipment and property to ensure they stay in good working order.

• Uses positive guidance and discipline techniques to redirect member behavior issues.

• Utilizes active supervision techniques when working with Club members.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Supports and mirrors the culture, mission, values, and core beliefs of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley.

• Promotes an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity.

• May include assisting with food program.

• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY and SKILLS - Required

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.

Recommended:

• Direct youth programming experience.
• Ability to earn and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
