Job summary

VCU Health is offering a Chaplain Resident program that combines three units of Clinical Pastoral Education with pursuit of a Master of Science in Patient Counseling at VCU. Residents will rotate in urban trauma settings, including ED, surgery, cardiology, pediatrics, psychiatry, women’s health, and organ donation protocols, under guidance from renowned faculty.

Qualifications

• Acceptance into the MS in Patient Counseling program.
• Ability to provide equitable care across lifespan as outlined in patient population guidance.

Responsibilities

• Offer spiritual care and support for patients, families, and staff.
• Offer spiritual and religious resources, and assistance to the dying and their loved ones.
• Documents interventions in patient records.
• Facilitates bereavement services.
• Attends to spiritual and religious needs.
• Participates in multidisciplinary teams.
• Engages in ethical consultations and education.
• Contributes to continuous quality improvement efforts.
• Fosters own personal and professional development.
• Adheres to all VCU Health System and Department of Spiritual Care policies and procedures.
