Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Serves as a messenger and conveyor of faith, mission, and purpose.
- Interacts with companies, their employees, and the community in a manner that exhibits character through personal and spiritual disciplines.
- Ministry duties: makes regular visits to company worksites (usually weekly) to interact with employees and build relationships of trust and friendship motivated by Christian faith.
- Visits employees or immediate family members wherever care can be expressed: hospitals, nursing homes, funeral homes, family residences, or other sites.
- Provides confidential pastoral discussions for a wide range of employee and family issues—including family matters, divorce, serious illness, care of aging parents, grief, parenting, budgeting, and other life issues related to financial stress.
- Provides referral services and coordinates specialized assistance.
- May assist in the planning, conduct, or attendance of funerals, provide post‑termination care for laid‑off employees, and facilitate, but not lead, spiritual enrichment activities.
- May provide literature and resources, represent companies to clients/customers when appropriate, and participate in new‑employee orientation.
- Handles death or serious‑injury notifications to families and other employees and works with executive leadership when requested within the scope of the Letter of Agreement.

- Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary group and in an interfaith setting, accepting diverse lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.
- Skills to effectively listen and interact with clients, employees, and families; to deliver community presentations; to cope with stressful situations; and to document accurately.
- Spiritual maturity and commitment to a Christian lifestyle, fundamental understanding of the Holy Bible, saving faith in Jesus Christ, and active participation in a biblically based church.
- Professional diplomacy, patience, courtesy, and the ability to establish effective, cooperative relationships while providing exceptional customer service.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
- Analytical skills to define problems, follow up on objectives, identify solutions, interpret policies, and keep others informed.
- Computer proficiency using Google Suites, Microsoft Office, or other equivalent software; ability to learn new technology programs.
- Must have an active state driver’s license and state minimum auto insurance for the service area.
Conditions of Employment
- Must pass a pre‑employment background check.
Work Environment
This is a remote position in the field; the chaplain works at client worksites which can include manufacturing plants, hospitals, office buildings, and funeral homes. Conditions such as temperature, noise, and light vary and may require flexibility.
