Job summary

Mercy Fort Smith is seeking a Chaplain to provide spiritual care to patients, families and caregivers in alignment with Mercy’s mission, values and service standards. This part-time role involves coordinating with an interdisciplinary team to support end-of-life, grief and daily patient needs.

The successful candidate will hold a counseling-related degree or CPE, be ordained/credentialed, and demonstrate strong communication and ecumenical sensitivity while embracing diverse beliefs.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree in counseling or related field and specific end of life training per state regulations within 90 days of hiring. OR 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education.
  • Licensure: Ordained, commissioned, or credentialed according to the practices of an organized religious group. Must be a licensed driver.
  • Experience: Clinical experience working with patient/families dealing with life-threatening and chronic illness, grief and loss, individual, family and group therapy.
  • Other: Ability to be flexible, open, sensitive and ecumenical; ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures beliefs and values.
  • Preferred Other: Has basic computer skills as well as a working knowledge of Windows, Word and Outlook.

Job Description

The chaplain is responsible for the provision of spiritual care services to patients/families/caregivers according to their desires and beliefs, either directly or through coordination of care with other spiritual counselors. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy service standards.
