  • Screens for possible spiritual distress and refers these cases to chaplain for follow up
  • Refers ongoing complex needs to chaplains for assessment and follow up
  • Ability to function effectively under stress, to cope with crises situations, and to respond creatively to a multiplicity of changes
  • Provides hospitality and assistance to visiting clergy as needed
  • Facilitates ethical decision making with patients/families
  • Respects confidentiality of information from all sources, including patients, family members, other volunteers and CSRHS associates
  • Understands and adheres to the CHRISTUS Associate Covenant and Code of Ethics
  • Demonstrates cultural humility and sensitivity with respect to the patient populations served
  • Documents spiritual assessments and interventions in the patient's medical record

Summary:

Assesses, provides, and documents effective spiritual care to patients, families, and staff in a variety of situations, including but not limited to crisis interventions, grief and bereavement, end of life care, and faith crises.
