Job summary

Community Health Network in Indianapolis seeks an experienced Chaplain to join its Spiritual Services team. You will respond to pastoral care referrals, perform spiritual assessments, and collaborate with the clinical team to support patients, families, and staff.

The role includes planning workshops, liaising with clergy, facilitating support groups, and participating in on-call rotations to provide evening, night, and weekend care. Relevant education and CPE units are required.

Qualifications

• Respond to requests/referrals for spiritual/pastoral care in a timely fashion.
• Perform spiritual assessments and provide interventions.
• Work with the clinical staff as part of the multi-disciplinary health care team.
• Plan/conduct workshops for hospital staff and volunteers/students.
• Develop relationships to provide spiritual/emotional support during stress/crisis.
• Provide liaison and educational services for clergy, volunteers, and students.
• Facilitate support groups for patients, families, or community.
• Share in on-call rotation for evening, night, and weekend pastoral care.
• Provide on-site supervision of Eucharistic Lay Minister program when needed.
• May not perform all duties; may perform additional related duties.
• Interact effectively with diverse backgrounds under varying stress levels.

• Provides liaison and educational services for community clergy, volunteers, and/or students as necessary.
• Facilitates support groups for patients, their families, or the community at large as appropriate.
• Shares in the chaplains’ regular on-call rotation providing evening, night and weekend pastoral care services at Network Hospitals.
• If needed, provides support and on-site supervision of the Eucharistic Lay Minister program (A Chaplain of the Catholic faith also performs this function).
• Individuals may not perform all of these duties, or may perform additional, related duties not listed here.
• Ability to effectively interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds and in varying degrees of stress and need is essential.

• Masters of Divinity; or its equivalent when the faith group does not require a Masters of Divinity from an accredited seminary.
• 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education required for full-time and part-time staff or 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education for PRN staff
• At least two years of full-time parish experience following ordination.
• Within one year from date of hire for full-time and part-time staff, certification by one of the following professional organizations is required: The Association of Professional Chaplains, The Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, The American Association of Pastoral Counselors, or The National Association of Catholic Chaplains
