Job summary

Geisinger in Danville, PA is seeking a chaplain to function within a multidisciplinary team, attending clinical conferences and support meetings to address spiritual care needs. The role involves assessing patients and families for spiritual concerns and delivering direct chaplaincy services across diverse beliefs.

The chaplain will coordinate with the patient’s clergy when requested, document visits in the EMR, and provide consultation and education to staff as needed.

Responsibilities

• Attends interdisciplinary team conferences, support meetings, and other appropriate meetings.
• Assesses each patient, family member, and caregiver for spiritual needs and concerns in consultation with other team members.
• Provides direct chaplaincy services to patients, family members, and caregivers of different philosophies and religious perspectives.
• Consults with patient or family to coordinate with the patient’s clergy and advises them on admission.
• Documents all visits and phone calls in the electronic medical record within an appropriate time frame.
• Provides consultation, counsel, and support to other team members as appropriate.
• Assists with training programs and in-service education as requested.
