Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Memberofthe treatment team who providesfor thespiritual needs of residents, families, and staff. The Chaplainassistspatients/residents to understand more fully life’sevents asthey relate to their spiritual and emotional well-being.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Foster an atmosphere of respect and dignity for spiritual needs.
• Offer religious and spiritual guidance to patients.
• Offer prayer or reflection.
• May participate in committees and patient, conferences to enhance the continuity of care.
• Develop positive working relationship with members of the treatment team.
• Provide consultation and appropriate resources to the interdisciplinary and group therapists regarding the spiritual needs and requests of the patient as they relate to treatment.
• Keep documentation as required.
• Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude toward customer’s always. When patient needs are acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degreerequired. Master's Degree preferred.
• Completion of curriculumof theological classes and displays skills and competencies in pastoral carerequired.
• Previouspastoral experience preferred.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Certification by an appropriate clinical pastoral agency.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.
