Unknown is seeking participants for a staged reading of an original musical exploring Black Lives Matter protest history, with a focus on diverse casting. The project offers paid staged reading performances and invites video auditions only.
Selected performers will be asked to prepare 16-32 bars of two musical theatre songs demonstrating character and vocal range; callbacks will occur in person the following week, with the reading scheduled for March 2027.

Synopsis: Set in present-day America, the story follows a young teenager who seeks shelter from a fight breaking out at a Black Lives Matter protest and ends up in an abandoned historical museum. There, the teenager is taken on a journey by well‑known historical figures who share the history of Black America and the people who helped shape its progress. This original musical aims to bring people together and inspire positive change. Musical style: A blend of Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, and Jason Robert Brown, with urban Caribbean jazz influences.
