Lead the Future of Surgical Care - Vision 2030

AtlantiCare, southeastern New Jersey's largest health system and a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipient, is seeking a transformative Chair of Surgical Services Institute to lead its system-wide surgical strategy. This is a highly visible, system-level leadership role designed to unify and elevate a broad surgical portfolio in alignment with AtlantiCare's Vision 2030-driven by innovation, academic growth, clinical excellence, and health system transformation.

Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, the Chair will serve as the architect of a destination Surgical Services Institute-integrating Surgical Oncology, Urology, Bariatric Surgery, General Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, Trauma, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery into a cohesive, high-performing academic enterprise.

This role is designed for a proven academic surgical leader who is ready to step into a highly resourced environment and build at scale-shaping surgical care, advancing education, and driving innovation across the system.

Be part of an extraordinary moment in healthcare - help shape the future as AtlantiCare partners in the creation of a brand-new, 4-year Temple University's Lewis Katz School of Medicine right here in Atlantic City, alongside the launch of the Stockton-AtlantiCare College of Community Health. As a physician at AtlantiCare, you have the opportunity to train and inspire the next generation of doctors and healthcare professionals, contribute to cutting-edge research, and deliver compassionate care that transforms lives. This is your chance to leave a lasting impact on our community, advance medicine, and help build a legacy of innovation, excellence, and leadership in healthcare.

Your Impact:
  • System-Level Surgical Leadership: Provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across all surgical disciplines, aligning programs under a unified Surgical Services Institute model focused on quality, access, and performance.

  • Perioperative Excellence: Partner with Nursing, Anesthesia, and Perioperative teams to design and optimize a best-in-class surgical ecosystem, including OR efficiency, access, throughput, block utilization, and patient experience.

  • Academic & GME Development: Lead the expansion of surgical GME programs, medical student education, and faculty development, supporting AtlantiCare's evolution into a robust academic clinical campus in partnership with a new medical school strategy.

  • Innovation & Capital Strategy: Collaborate with executive leadership to prioritize and deploy capital investments in robotics, minimally invasive platforms, hybrid ORs, and advanced surgical technologies to expand clinical capabilities.

  • Faculty Recruitment & Retention: Build a high-caliber academic surgical faculty by recruiting top-tier surgeons and cultivating a culture of clinical excellence, teaching, mentorship, and scholarship.

  • Quality & Outcomes Leadership: Drive system-wide performance improvement, standardization of care, and continuous quality enhancement across all surgical services.

What You'll Lead:
  • A comprehensive, multi-specialty surgical enterprise spanning all major surgical disciplines

  • Integration across inpatient, outpatient, and procedural care environments

  • Expansion of surgical residency and fellowship training programs

  • A growing academic platform with medical students, residents, and fellows embedded in the clinical environment

  • System-level alignment with strategic service lines including Oncology, Neurosciences, Cardiovascular, and other high-priority initiatives

What We Offer:
  • Competitive executive compensation

  • Leadership stipend and performance incentives

  • Full benefits package:
403(b) & 457(b) retirement plans with employer contributions
    Malpractice coverage with full tail
    Relocation assistance
Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and disability coverage
Generous PTO, CME allowance, and NJ Sick Time

  • Culture of Collaboration: Inclusive, innovative, and team-centered environment focused on shared success and continuous improvement
