• Provide strategic, academic, scientific, and administrative leadership for the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, including research and education responsibility
• Foster integration with the Institute of Human Virology and other university units
• Lead laboratory research strategy across basic, translational, and clinical sciences, epidemiology, public health, and global health
• Recruit, support, and develop investigators; cultivate infrastructure for sustained research excellence
• Support graduate and medical education and contribute to program development
