Job summary

Waltham Public Schools is seeking a Ch.74 Vocational Instructor for the Early Education & Care Program Long Term Substitute. The role requires planning and delivering lessons aligned with MA DESE standards, communicating goals to administrators, parents and students, and building positive relationships within the school community.

The candidate should hold a MA DESE license, a related Bachelor's degree, and a lead teacher license; SEI endorsement is a plus.

Qualifications

• MA DESE license as a Ch.74 Vocational Technical Early Education & Care Instructor.
• Bachelor's degree or higher related to the subject matter and skills to be taught.
• Three years of recent full-time employment experience in Early Education & Care.
• Current MA Office of Child Care Services lead teacher license.
• Passing scores on required tests (70%) for Early Education & Care.
• Ability to communicate with administrators, parents, guardians and students.
• Knowledge of EEC curriculum, employability skills, and diverse student populations.
• Excellent listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
• Prepare students for MA certification including CPR/First Aid training.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement department curriculum objectives based on MA State Framework.
• Teach technical skills to enable students to become proficient in their field.
• Use a variety of instructional techniques and media.
• Meet learning objectives and communicate goals to students and families.
• Integrate curriculum where appropriate and use educational technology to enhance learning.
• Assess and report student progress; maintain records as required.
• Ensure safety, equity and high standards; foster positive relationships with the school community.
• Prepare daily lesson plans and maintain classroom management strategies.
• Participate in curriculum development and collaborate with program director.
• Assist in maintaining instructional materials and resources.
