Job summary

Charlotte Country Day School is seeking a Chief Financial & Operations Officer to lead finance and operations during an era of growth and evolution. The CFOO will partner with School leadership to translate strategy into sustainable financial and operational plans across two campuses and a 330‑acre farm.

Qualifications

• Experience overseeing finance and operations within a complex organization (ideally independent school or mission-driven).
• Long-range planning, budgeting, and aligning resources with priorities.
• Experience managing institutional debt and lender relationships.
• Overseeing multi-campus facilities, HR, risk and security, and vendor relationships.
• Direct experience with construction/renovation projects from planning through completion.
• Experience guiding organizational change while maintaining morale and continuity.
• Strong use of data to inform decisions and transparent communication with governance.
• Commitment to equity and belonging within the school community.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial leadership to support growth and campus planning.
• Oversee budgeting processes with timely reporting to leadership and boards.
• Manage debt portfolio and relationships with lenders and investors.
• Lead operations across multiple campuses, facilities, HR, risk, and vendor management.
• Direct major construction and renovation projects from feasibility to completion.
• Guide organizational changes, processes, and systems with clear accountability.
• Use data to drive decisions and communicate with governance and stakeholders.
