Job summary

Hamilton Barnes Associates Limited is seeking a CFD Specialist to perform advanced computational analyses for indoor and outdoor airflow, thermal comfort, and contaminant dispersion in mission-critical facilities. You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and project teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, at least 3 years of CFD experience, and proficiency with multiple CFD tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of CFD or building mechanical systems experience.
  • Strong knowledge of CFD, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, and Building Mechanical Systems.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience with multiple CFD tools and scripting languages.

Responsibilities

  • Utilise CFD tools to analyse building airflow, thermal comfort, and contaminant dispersion.
  • Improve analytical workflows by developing best practices and automating processes.
  • Maintain current CFD research knowledge and emerging trends.
  • Document and present findings through reports and client-facing presentations.
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines while independently managing analysis tasks.

The CFD Specialist will perform advanced computational analysis to solve physics-based problems related to indoor and outdoor airflow, thermal comfort, and contaminant dispersion. This role strengthens the team's analytical capabilities through modelling, research, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The CFD Specialist works independently while coordinating with mechanical, electrical, and project management teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions for mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilise CFD tools to analyse building airflow, thermal comfort, and contaminant dispersion
  • Improve analytical workflows by developing best practices, automating processes, and streamlining modelling procedures
  • Maintain current CFD research knowledge and emerging trends in building mechanical systems
  • Document and present findings through technical reports, modelling summaries, and client-facing presentations
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines while independently managing analysis tasks and project deliverables
Required Skills/Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, and Building Mechanical Systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with technical documentation, modelling workflows, and presenting engineering findings
  • Extensive experience with Cadence, FloEFD, Tileflow and/or similar 3D CFD simulation software tools
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office skillset
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant CFD or building mechanical systems experience
  • Experience with CFD software such as FloEFD, Cadence, STAR-CCM+, Fluent, FDS, OpenFOAM, or 6SigmaRoom
  • Familiarity with developing User Defined Functions (UDFs) for commercial CFD tools
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, planning, and time management skills
Salary:
  • $110,000 Base Per Annum
