Job summary

H-E-B in San Antonio seeks a Central Fill Maintenance Specialist to lead complex diagnostics and high-level repairs while training Maintenance Technicians to uphold equipment integrity and facility operations.

You will mentor technicians, conduct root-cause analyses, and drive continuous improvement across maintenance methods and tools, including scheduling and budget support. A strong background in CMMS/EAM and mechanical/electrical knowledge is required.

  • Diagnose and repair complex failures and serve as the technical resource for maintenance staff.

  • Mentor, train, and audit technicians' work; ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Perform root cause analysis and provide solutions to leadership.
  • Research alternatives for end-of-life equipment and drive improvements in maintenance methods.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to increase facility efficiency and reliability.
  • Develop shift, training, and vacation/holiday schedules with leadership.
  • Assist with planner coordinator duties and budgeting activities.

Job Summary

As a Central Fill Maintenance Specialist, you will focus on the most complex diagnostics, high-level system repairs and project-based maintenance activities, while training Maintenance Technicians to ensure the integrity and optimization of critical equipment and facility operations.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
  • Subject matter expert on all Tech III duties and serves as a technical resource for solving complex technical problems; Independently diagnose and repair catastrophic failures
  • Develop and deliver structured training sessions for Maintenance Technicians and act as the primary on-the-job resource for technical questions and advanced skill transfer
  • Responsible for mentoring, training, inspecting equipment; audit quality / quantity of work performed by Technicians.
  • Execute root cause analysis evaluations on equipment / process failures and provide solutions to Leadership
  • Research and provide alternatives for end-of-life equipment
  • Responsible for continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance methods, procedures, equipment, and tools
  • Initiate and delegate process improvements that increase facility efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborates with leadership to develop shift schedules, training schedules, and vacation / holiday schedules.
  • Assist with maintenance coverage of techs and planner coordinator and team leader duties when needed.
  • Assists leadership in developing expense and capital plans and budgets.

Qualifications & Key Requirements

Advanced support individual contributor position performing administrative or specialized tasks in support of daily business activities.

Receives limited supervision. Work is typically difficult and non-routine, but not complex, and solutioning requires advanced knowledge gained through extensive work experience. May recommend solutions or changes to processes and/or procedures.

Trains and may review the work of lower-level Partners.

Work Experience
  • 7+ years of experience preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Coursework in industrial technology, automation and/or electrical technology preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CMMS and EAM systems
  • Strong organization, time-management and analytical skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong written / verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and math skills, including arithmetic, application of formulas (e.g., area, volume), measurement conversion
  • Ability to read / interpret mechanical and electrical schematics,
  • Ability to work independently, with high quality and productivity
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks / projects; attention to detail.
  • Role models service expectations for new Partners.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate clearly in English (required)
Education
  • High school, vocational, or associate's degree
Licenses/Certifications
  • May need certification to operate MHE
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • Work in a fast-paced, demanding work environment that requires detailed work and precision under stress
  • Stand for extended periods (up to 12 hours)
  • Work while standing, sitting, stooping, walking, bending, with hands over head, and in prone position
  • Work from a ladder and other elevated work platforms (manlift, scissor lift)
  • Work in small/tight spaces safely
  • Travel by car or plane with overnight stays
  • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift 75 lbs
  • Work various rotating shifts, including weekends; remain flexible to business needs
  • Stay past scheduled shifts to complete daily production in the event of systems failure or production downtime, as required
