Aisobservers in Honolulu, HI, seeks a Bioacoustic Research Analyst to support NOAA's Passive Acoustic Studies. The role entails analyzing passive acoustic monitoring data, supporting cetacean detection and classification, and managing databases.

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in marine science or statistics, with a strong foundation in bioacoustics, programming skills in MATLAB, R, or Python, and experience in data management.

This full-time position offers an hourly rate to be negotiated along with a benefits package that includes healthcare and paid leave.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of underwater acoustic theory.
• Experience with automated detectors/classifiers.
• Ability to execute statistical analyses.
• Prior experience with technical reports.
• Familiarity with TETHYS and Makara databases.
• Public Trust background clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with data analysis for cetacean detection and classification.
• Support maintenance of acoustic metadata databases.
• Prepare datasets for archiving at NCEI.
• Draft technical reports and presentations.
• Create analysis code logs and submit progress reports.
