Job summary

Qualifications

• Prior welding experience gained through training or previous job experience.
• Completion of training for Gas Fitter 1/C as outlined in the Gas Department Training and Job Progression agreement.
• Successful completion of a welder qualification test (requalification required every three years).
• High school diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma recognized by New York State.
• Thorough knowledge of company gas practices and standards.
• Familiarity with company safety rules, first aid, and resuscitation methods.
• Ability to qualify for operator's licenses as legally required.

Job Summary: Under general supervision, the Gas Welder is responsible for laying out and performing all types of welding on gas piping, equipment, structural members, and special devices. This role may also involve directing a team member assisting with welding operations and overseeing other related tasks.
