voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation is seeking an experienced Certified Weld Inspector/QA NDT Level II to support Aerospace operations in Shelbyville, KY. Responsibilities include visual inspection, NDT training, and laser welding of titanium parts as part of the production process.

The role requires NAS-410 compliant NDT qualifications, BAC 5975/5686 certifications, and AWS CWI or CAWI. Overtime and shift adjustments may be required; strong attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with 2 years of NDT school or equivalent military training.
• NAS-410 NAS-410 and RFC SOP-QA-024 qualifications for NDT methods required.
• BAC 5975 & BAC 5686 certifications for welding of titanium.
• AWS Certified Weld Inspector or Certified Associate Weld Inspector.

Responsibilities

• Mark laser welds with Certified Weld Inspector stamp per BAC 5686.
• Perform visual inspection for butt and seam welds.
• Laser weld titanium (BAC 5975, BAC 5686).
• Maintain Level II training and progression.
• Train and certify in all NDT inspections/functions per RFC procedures.
• Conduct NDT inspections for part acceptance per NAS 410 and RFC SOP.

Certified Weld Inspector/QA NDT Level II

Salary Range: $26.00 To $39.85 Annually

We’re seeking an experienced welder and certified weld inspector to support our Aerospace operations team by inspecting laser-welded titanium parts as part of our production process. Strong candidates will be detail-oriented, experienced working within a production team and willing to certify for other NDT methods.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Uses visual inspection to test and/or accept welded products, components, materials and assemblies to assure conformance with applicable customer specifications and requirements. Ability to train and certify in Nondestructive testing (NDT) to include Liquid Penetrant Inspection, Ultrasonic Inspection, and Digital Radiography Inspection.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.Others as assigned.

• Responsible for marking all laser welding work with issued Certified Weld Inspector – Certified stamp per BAC 5686.
• Perform Visual Weld Inspection for Butt and Seam Welded Assemblies
• Laser welding of Titanium (BAC 5975, BAC 5686)
• Maintain certification in Associate Welding Inspector with bi-annual progression to certification in Welding Inspector level.
• Demonstrate ability to train and certify in all NDT inspections/functions of a Level II per RFC’s written procedures.
• Upon certification, conduct NDT inspections for the acceptance of parts and provide identification of material failure within company policy
• Upon certification, perform duties as the Level II to comply with NAS 410, SOP-QA-024, and customer specification requirements
• Maintain current visual acuity examinations
• Understand and follow appropriate SOPs and W.I.’s.
• Meet NDT Level II qualifications outlined in the NAS410 and RFC’s written practice.

Schedule: This 2 nd shift position will primarily work Monday to Thursday 3PM to 1:30AM and overtime as needed. Overtime and shift premium eligible. May need to train on first shift from 5AM to 3:30PM.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE

• At least 5 years of welding experience
• Prefer 2 years’ manufacturing experience in technical/quality related role
• Prefer experience with FMEA, Route Cause Analysis, AQP, SPC, GD&T, Gages, Measuring Instruments, Blueprint Reading.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES THAT ENABLE YOU TO SUCCEED

• Highly proficient in Office software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook and ability to learn new software tools.
• Hands-on experience with ERP or MRP. Global Shop Solutions is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Reliable and diligent with the ability to work efficiently while maintaining high standards in quality.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma with 2 years of NDT technical school or equivalent military training or two years NDT Level II experience in each method.
• Must meet the NDT Level II qualification in PT, (liquid penetrant) UT (ultrasonic) and RF (radiography) as set forth in NAS-410 and RFC SOP-QA-024.
• BAC 5975 (Fusion Welding of Metals) & BAC 5686 (Laser Beam Welding of Titanium for Structural Applications)
• American Welding Society Certified Weld Inspector Certification or Certified Associate Weld Inspector

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Standard work hours with occasional evening/weekend availability as assigned
