Job summary

Great Lakes Veterinary Clinic, Inc. is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) for its evening Urgent Care team in Wisconsin. You will triage urgent and scheduled cases, perform nursing tasks, and support clients with compassionate care.

This role offers flexible scheduling (full-time hybrid or part-time urgent care only) with no overnights, plus benefits and ongoing CE support. A strong team environment and collaborative DVM mentorship are emphasized.

Qualifications

• CVT in Wisconsin or eligible for certification.
• Experience in triage, lab work, and radiography.
• Strong communicator, thrives in fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Triage walk-in and urgent care cases; obtain patient histories.
• Perform nursing tasks: IV/IO, venipuncture, fluids, analgesia, bandaging.
• Run in-house diagnostics: cytology, urinalysis, fecals, X-rays.
• Administer and monitor medications; maintain accurate records.
• Support clients with clear discharge instructions and empathy.
• Maintain exam/treatment areas cleanliness and infection control.
• Assist with patient flow, payments, and discharges.

Schedule & Hours

Urgent Care Clinic Hours:

• Sunday: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Monday: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Tuesday: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Thursday: 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Flexible scheduling available: full-time (hybrid General Practice + Urgent Care) or part-time (Urgent Care only). No overnights. No surgeries or dentals.

Compensation & Benefits

$22–$27/hour, depending on experience and certification.

What You’ll Do

• Triage walk-in and scheduled urgent care cases; obtain clear and concise patient histories
• Perform patient nursing care including IV/IO catheter placement, venipuncture, fluid therapy, analgesia, wound/abscess care, and bandaging
• Conduct in-house diagnostics (cytology, urinalysis, fecals, digital radiographs)
• Administer, monitor, and record medications and treatments accurately
• Support clients with compassionate communication and thorough discharge instructions
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and infection control in exam and treatment areas
• Assist with patient flow, payments, and discharges to maintain efficiency

Who You Are

• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) in Wisconsin, or eligible for certification
• Experienced in patient triage, lab work, and radiography
• Skilled communicator who thrives under pressure and works well in a smaller, fast-paced team
• Confident, detail-oriented, and dedicated to patient comfort and client trust
• Passionate about helping animals and supporting a strong team dynamic
