Job summary

Madison Veterinary Specialists in Monona, WI is looking for dedicated Certified Veterinary Technicians to enhance our oncology team. Full-time positions are available, offering a competitive wage between $24.00 - $27.00 hourly, medical insurance, and up to a $2,750 sign-on bonus.

Applicants must be graduates of an accredited veterinary technician program with clinical experience. Responsibilities include providing nursing care, assisting in surgical procedures, and acting as a liaison between clients and veterinary staff.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a veterinary technician program with current registration as a Certified or Licensed Veterinary Technician.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in the veterinary field.
• Experience administering anesthesia; ventilator experience a plus.

Position Overview

MVS offers a competitive wage and up to a $2,750 sign‑on bonus. Paid relocation expenses are available. Madison Veterinary Specialists (MVS) seeks full‑time experienced Certified Veterinary Technicians and recent graduates from an accredited Veterinary Technician program to join our growing oncology team.

Responsibilities

• Provide veterinary medical nursing care, perform laboratory tests, and administer treatments under the direction of the board‑certified veterinary oncologist.
• Act as the primary liaison between the client, doctor, and clinical staff.
• Assist in surgical procedures, perform anesthesia, catheter placement, calculate drug dosages (including CRIs), process prescriptions, and prepare treatment estimates and invoices.
• Utilize progress safety equipment, including closed system transfer devices and a certified Type B2 biosafety cabinet.

Work Schedule

Full time, 4 days per week: Monday through Thursday, ~8:00–5:30pm

Qualifications

• Graduate of a veterinary technician program with current registration as a Certified or Licensed Veterinary Technician.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in the veterinary field.
• Experience administering anesthesia; ventilator experience a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills, discretion, and ability to interface with staff and clients.
• Reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates.
• Willingness to participate in continuing education in oncology and related technician skills.
• Physical ability to work on feet throughout the shift and lift up to 30lb.
• Capability to work safely in an environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials, infectious and zoonotic diseases.
• Strong sense of helping clients and caring for animals; ability to assist with emergency or critical‑care patients as needed.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client and patient information; ability to multi‑task and prioritize.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience as a Veterinary Oncology Technician.
• Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) – IM (Oncology).
• Experience working with electronic records such as ImproMed.

Each new MVS team member completes a personalized training program to acclimate, answer questions and assist with getting to know the larger team.
