Job summary

VCA Veterinary Specialists of CT in West Hartford, CT seeks a compassionate, experienced Certified Veterinary Technician to join our ICU‑driven team. This hands‑on role covers patient care, anesthesia, surgery support, and diagnostics in a full‑service hospital.

We offer extensive CVT support, a collaborative culture, and opportunities for continuing education and career growth within the VCA network. Compensation ranges $30.00–$40.00 per hour, with a full‑time schedule of three 12‑hour shifts

Qualifications

• Minimum CVT certification with current licensure.
• Experience in patient care, anesthesia and surgery support preferred.
• Willingness to work three 12-hour shifts including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Performs and assists with physical exams and vitals for the veterinary team.
• Administers vaccines, medications, and treatments with accurate dosing.
• Places IV catheters, performs venipuncture and manages fluids.
• Inducts, maintains and monitors anesthesia during procedures and tracks vitals.
• Assists in surgery, including spay/neuter and instrument prep.
• Performs radiography and in-house lab work.
• Provides dental care support and dental radiographs.
• Educates clients on preventive care and at-home instructions.
• Maintains medical records and communicates with veterinarians and care team.
• Supports patient comfort and handling across varied cases.
