Job summary

Delavan Lakes Veterinary Clinic in Delavan, Wisconsin seeks a full‑time Certified Veterinary Technician to join a team that values ongoing training and growth. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; and 1–2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Veterinary Technician in Wisconsin is required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, stoop, bend, and stand on feet for long periods.

Responsibilities

  • Check patient medical records and enter treatments and charges.
  • Restrain animals for Veterinarian as required.
  • Maintains client educational material in an efficient manner.
  • Draw blood, access veins quickly, and perform testing procedures.
  • Perform specimen testing procedures on blood, urine or other samples as directed.
  • Assist Veterinarian with in-patient care and daily treatments including IV fluids.
  • Perform anesthesia induction and monitoring.
  • Dispense medications and feed patients as directed.
  • Communicate with owners about medications, complications and warnings.
  • Enter and reference patient information in the computer system.
  • Perform lab work (CBCs, blood profiles, urinalysis, heartworm tests, FELV/FIV, cultures).
  • Document test results and deliver to relevant staff.
  • Prepare specimens for mailing to hospitals.
  • Maintain exam room supplies and equipment for doctors.
  • Schedule and/or perform testing equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms.
  • Set laboratory standards and train staff as required.
  • Assist in animal care as needed.
  • Handle x-ray processes and related documentation.
  • Perform departmental housekeeping duties.
  • Take medical histories and vital signs.
  • Admit and discharge patients.
  • Process prescription refills and coordinate with pharmacies.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
  • Other duties as assigned.
