Job summary

Briarwood Animal Hospital in Little Rock, AR is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will hold a current CVT license, possess strong client communication and medical records skills, and be able to perform radiography, anesthesia, and surgical monitoring in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • A CVT with an active license is required.
  • 1+ year professional experience preferred but not required.
  • Available for Saturday morning shifts.
  • Excellent client communication and medical records management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures and hospital operations.
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques.
  • Experience collecting blood, urine, fecal, and skin samples.
  • Radiographic positioning and image capture; dental radiography a plus.
  • Experience with anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring.
  • Commitment to ethics and ongoing learning.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hazard-exposed environment.

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint and triage of incoming patients.
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples.
  • Diagnostic imaging and nursing care of medical/hospitalized cases.
  • Administration of medications and communication of treatment plans to clients.
  • Surgical preparation and assistance; anesthetic management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment.

We also offer specialized services such as dental care, nutritional counseling, and behavioral consultations to help address any unique needs a pet may have!

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications
  • A Certified Veterinary Technician with an active license required, 1+ year professional experience preferred but not required
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Availability to work Saturday morning shifts
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture, with additional skills in dental radiography being a plus
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
