Job summary

AFL's Duncan, SC manufacturing facility is seeking a Certified Technician to safely operate production lines producing cable for the telecommunications industry. You will follow procedures, focus on quality, control costs, and work in a dynamic, team-based environment, reporting to a crew supervisor.

Flexibility to adapt to assignments is required, with night/weekend shifts. The role is 12-hour rotating shifts (2/2/3), with PPE provided.

Qualifications

• Able to comprehend and follow work instructions, apply basic math, and use handheld measurement devices.
• Mechanically oriented with the ability to solve problems and implement change.
• Strong communication and writing skills; ability to clearly explain issues.
• Good computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office and Oracle is a plus.
• Must have good English language skills, written and spoken.
• High school diploma or GED OR 1+ years of manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the production schedule, minimize changeover times, and meet production goals.

• Assist other operators with machine setup and operation as needed.
• Document and report quality issues.

Job Summary

The Certified Technician will be responsible for safely operating production lines that produce Cable for the telecommunications industry. He/She must be diligent in adhering to procedures, focused on producing the best quality products, highly productive, and mindful of costs. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a challenging, dynamic, team-based manufacturing environment.

The position reports to a crew supervisor and is assigned to a production team. Flexibility in assignments is required.

The position is located at our Duncan, SC manufacturing facility which operates on a seven day, twenty-four hour schedule. The ability to work nights and weekends is required.

• High school diploma or GED OR 1+ years of manufacturing experience

Working Conditions

• 12 hour rotating shifts (2/2/3)
• Physical demands:
  • Job involves sitting, standing, walking and lifting for periods of time throughout the day.
  • Job requires rolling and turning of reels, cutting different metal types, monitoring lines and distinguishing colors.
  • Must be able to lift between 15 and 50 pounds frequently on a daily basis.
• Personal protective equipment requirements:
• Safety glasses and steel toe shoes must be worn at all times.
• Some positions will require ear plugs to be worn at all times.
• Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and ongoing random drug screens.
