Teacher Assistant

Our Charter High School seeks a dedicated Teacher Assistant to join our diverse learning community.

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3-6 months experience as a TA is preferred or experience working with children or adolescents.
• Complete a background check.
• Teacher Certification not required but preferred.

SUMMARY

Under general supervision of a Teacher, is responsible for assisting the teacher in the following:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures that services are rendered to students with utmost regard for their personal dignity, privacy and confidentiality.
• Provides necessary support/coverage.
• Aids in program plans and preparations.
• Assists with supervision of high school students in assigned areas.
• Ensures that all data collection and progress notes are completed according to division time frames and they accurately reflect functioning and program standards.
• Follows established classroom activity schedules.
• Assists Teacher in maintaining a clean and organized classroom.
• Participates in activities outside of activity room, when necessary, i.e. trips, gym.
• Attends Required meetings and participate in training programs within departments.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to move around the classroom and laboratory
• Ability to lift and move laboratory equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds
• Extended periods of standing and walking throughout the school day
• Visual and auditory ability to respond to student needs and potential safety concerns

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Full-time 10-month position following the academic calendar
• For science classes, laboratory and classroom environment with exposure to standard science equipment and materials.
