Job summary

Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, TX, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a PRN Certified Surgical Technologist to support perioperative teams under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. You will help prepare supplies and maintain sterile technique for diverse surgical cases.

You will collaborate with surgeons, nurses and staff to deliver safe patient care, uphold patient privacy, and perform other duties as assigned in a fast-paced operating room environment.

Qualifications

• BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start
• High School Graduate / GED required
• (TS-C) Tech in Surgery - Certified, or (CST) Certified Surgical Technologist

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile technique and prepares instruments and supplies for surgical cases
• Communicates and participates in teamwork on the unit
• Provides customer service to patients, visitors, physicians and staff
• Respects patient privacy and confidentiality
• Assists and communicates with the Registered Nurse in patient care activities
• Performs other duties as assigned

Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide patient care under the direction of the RN, using the nursing process, in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Las Palmas Medical Center.

POPULATION SERVED: Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served: Pre and intraoperative interventions, including but not limited to Cardiovascular/Thoracic, Neuro, GI, GU, GYN, Orthopedics, Neonates, Skeletal/muscular conditions and diseases etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Demonstrates knowledge and application of sterile technique, instruments and supplies needed for surgical cases.
• Communicates, interacts and participates in teamwork on the unit.
• Practices, endorses and provides customer service skills to patients, visitors, physicians and staff.
• Demonstrates knowledge and respect of the patients right to privacy and protection of patient confidentiality.
• Communicates and participates in patient care activities in direct conjunction with the Registered Nurse.
• Other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• High School Graduate / GED
• (TS-C) Tech in Surgery - Certified, or (CST) Certified Surgical Technologist
