Sentara Martha Jefferson is seeking a Flexi/PRN Certified Surgical Technologist for the day shift in our Outpatient Surgery Center in Charlottesville, VA. The OR supports orthopedic, breast, gynecology, plastics, ENT, urology, ophthalmology and pediatrics with a 7am–3pm schedule.

Responsibilities include preparing the OR, passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and assisting the surgical team while ensuring patient safety. Virginia licensure and CST certification are required.

Qualifications

• Licensed Surgical Technologist – Virginia (Required).
• CST Certification (NBSTSA) or NCCT TS-C preferred.
• BLS certification required by AHA.

The outpatient surgery center features dedicated admit recovery and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) services. With four operating rooms, the facility provides a range of surgical services, including orthopedic procedures, as well as breast, gynecology, plastics, ENT, urology, ophthalmology, and pediatrics.**Operating hours** are primarily Monday to Friday from 7am to 3pm, with no night or weekend shifts, though occasional variations in hours may occur.**The Surgical Technologist** ensures that the operating room is properly prepared with the necessary instruments and equipment and assists the surgical team throughout the procedure by passing instruments, maintaining the sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon. The role involves maintaining patient safety and ensuring that the surgical environment is organized, clean, and sterile. The Surgical Technologist assists in applying dressings, securing surgical drapes and transferring patients to recovery areas. Adheres to infection control protocols and sterile techniques to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
