Job summary

Valley Health System is seeking a Per Diem surgical technologist to assist in the VH SURGERY CENTER. Under the supervision of a surgeon, you will support invasive procedures, maintain sterile technique, and ensure patient safety in the operating room.

Qualified candidates will have graduation from an accredited surgical technology program, at least 2 years of Orthopedics, Podiatry, Spine and ENT surgery experience, and NBSTSA certification with BLS at minimum.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program.
• 2 years of Orthopedics, Podiatry, Spine and ENT surgery experience.
• NBSTSA certification and BLS required; AHA Healthcare Provider card preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon and OR team to facilitate safe invasive procedures.
• Maintain sterile technique and operating room safety; ensure equipment functions properly.
• Support patient safety and accurate documentation during surgical cases.

Job Description The CST is an allied health professional who works under the supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. They possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Education Graduate of an accredited surgical technology course required.

Experience 2 years of Orthopedics, Podiatry, Spine and ENT surgery experience.

Certification & Licensures If working in Virginia, VA State license required prior to the start of employment. NBSTSA Certification required. BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart 'Healthcare Provider' (HCP) - AHA approved required. New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed in order to provide care for the age group of patients served.
