Job summary

St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System in Savannah, GA seeks a Surgical Technician for Labor & Delivery in the Telfair BirthPlace. Responsibilities include assisting with room setup, preparing patients, and ensuring supplies and case carts are ready for procedures under RN/LPN direction.

Required are national certification or equivalent, BLS, and HS diploma or higher. Experience is preferred and ongoing competency is expected in a fast-paced birthplace environment.

Qualifications

• High School - Preferred
• Graduate of Surgical Technician Program; competency evident in pursuing and maintaining national certification within subspecialty - Required
• 1 Year Surgical Tech - Preferred
• National Certification - Required*
• A minimum of 10 years verifiable Surgical Tech experience accepted in lieu of Certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required

Responsibilities

• Assists in room set up. Helps move/transport patients. Assists with patient prepping.
• Correct procedure card for supplies and instruments is identified and used. Sufficient quantities of supplies and instruments are pulled for each procedure. Case carts are completed accurately and promptly.
• Documents daily temperatures. Assures sub-steriles stocked with supplies/blankets. Stocks assigned area.
• Patients are identified per guidelines and patient care interventions are provided under the direction of the RN/LPN. Accurately obtains and documents patient assessments according to hospital/ department guidelines.
• Assists in procedures/ exams as directed. Obtains necessary supplies, equipment, and/ or personnel as needed. Communicates data by timely documentation and reporting of abnormal or patient status change to RN/LPN.
