Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist to support surgical education and patient care in an academic health center. The CST will prepare and maintain sterile fields, select and arrange instruments, and assist surgeons and residents during procedures.

Responsibilities include maintaining aseptic technique, managing supplies, performing counts, and supporting simulation labs.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist credential and graduation from an accredited surgical technology program.
• BLS/CPR certification and current credentialing as required by state and MUSC.
• Complies with hospital credentialing requirements and policies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile fields for surgical and teaching procedures
• Select, organize, and manage surgical instruments and supplies
• Assist surgeons, residents, and students during operative procedures
• Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection control standards
• Perform and document instrument, sponge, and needle counts
• Operate and troubleshoot basic surgical equipment
