Job summary

Certified Surgical Tech First Assist – Full‑Time

This is a full‑time, 40‑hour a week day shift opportunity at Wellington Regional Medical Center.

Responsibilities

The Certified Surgical Tech First Assistant (CSTFA) is a specialized technologist whose practice extends perioperative nursing, bringing knowledge, skills, and abilities required to assist the surgical team within the operating room and similar settings. The scope of practice includes intraoperative surgical first assisting. Intraoperatively, the CSTFA works interdependently with the surgeon, applying knowledge, skill and judgment to assist the surgeon in performing safe operations that yield optimal results for the patient. The CSTFA provides patient care for all ages and/or offers leadership and direction to the perioperative team during the perioperative phase as needed, and does not concurrently function as the scrub tech.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a surgical technology program
• Graduate of an accredited surgical first‑assisting program
• Certified surgical technician
• First‑assist certification required
• 3–5 years of operating‑room experience
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification
