Job summary

Mercy Health in Paducah, KY is seeking a Surgical Technologist II to assist surgeons and nurses in the operating room. You will prepare the OR, assemble supplies, and maintain aseptic technique to support safe procedures.

Qualified candidates have an associate degree or vocational Surgical Technology certification, one year of experience, and BLS. Certification as CST/NBSTA/TS-C or NCCT is required with Virginia CST if currently residing in VA. Mercy Health offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or vocational certification in Surgical Technology is required.
• One year of experience as a Surgical Technologist is required.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) is required.
• Certification options include CST, NBSTA/TS-C or NCCT; Virginia CST residency required if living in VA.

Responsibilities

• Assemble supplies and equipment for operative procedures.
• Provide supplies to the surgical team and maintain aseptic technique during procedures.
• Report implanted devices, catheters and packing to the circulator.
• Prepare skin prep for procedures as indicated.
• Assist with pre- and post-procedure cleaning of the OR.
• Demonstrate understanding of patient advance directives and MIS, laparoscopy and robotics equipment.

Surgical Technologist II – Paducah Medical Pavilion

Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist II assists surgeons and nurses with preparation for aseptic technique and surgical procedures in the operating room. They will prepare the operating room for surgery by assembling routine supplies, materials, instruments, and equipment.

Essential Functions:

• Assemble supplies and equipment required for the operative and invasive procedures.
• Provides supplies to the surgical team during the procedure and maintains aseptic technique.
• Reports any implanted devices, catheters, drains, and packing to circulator.
• Prepares and performs surgical skin prep as indicated by procedure.
• Assists with pre and post procedure cleaning of the operative or invasive procedure room.
• Demonstrates understanding of patients Advance Directives
• Demonstrates knowledge of equipment, instrumentation, lasers, Management Information Systems (MIS), laparoscopy, and robotics.

Education:

• Associates Degree, Vocational Certification, or Military Certificate in Surgical Technology (required)

Licensure/Certification:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
• Must be certified by one of the following: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) or Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) (required)
• Registered Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with the Virginia Board of Medicine (required if currently reside in Virginia)

Experience:

• One year of experience as a Surgical Technologist (required)
