Job summary

Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery in Plano, TX is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (CST). This full-time role involves 10-hour shifts, OR preparation, and perioperative patient care across diverse populations.

You will support preoperative planning, instrument management, and post-operative duties in a fast-paced team. Eligible candidates include CSTs with NBSTSA/NCCT credentials or LVN with BCLS, with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or graduation from an accredited surgical technology program required
  • CST/CST NBSTSA or TS-C NCCT certification upon hire or prior employment in a health care facility before Sep 1, 2009 requested
  • LVN license upon hire
  • BCLS certification prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • 1 year CST experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Preoperatively assists RN circulator in formulating a plan of care
  • Prepare and organize the operating room
  • Assists in providing peri-operative care for patients including infants, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics
  • Coordinating patient care peri-operatively as needed
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for professional nursing standards
  • Post-operatively follows procedures for handling instruments, supplies, and equipment
  • Under supervision, assists RN circulators with post-operative duties

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
Graduate of accredited surgical technology program or related military training
CST/CST NBSTSA or TS-C (NCCT) certification upon hire
LVN license upon hire
BCLS certification prior to providing independent patient care

Work Hours:

Full-Time (40 hours/week) - 10 hour shifts.

Here’s What You Need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and was employe to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009, required or
  • Other – Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, vocational nurse program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology required,
  • 1 year of current CST experience preferred
  • CST – Certified Surgical Technologist/ CST (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) upon hire required Or
  • CST – Certified Surgical Technologist CST (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009, upon hire required Or
  • LVN – Licensed Vocational Nurse upon hire required and
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly upon hire required and
What You Will Do

  • Post-operatively follows proper procedures for the care of instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Under supervision, assists RN circulators with post-operative duties.
