Job summary

Dayton Children's is seeking a full-time Surgical Technologist to assist in surgical procedures at the Main Campus. The ideal candidate will collaborate with healthcare teams and provide exceptional patient service while ensuring safety and compliance with standards.

Candidates must have an Associate's degree in Surgical Technology and be certified as Surgical Technologists. The role requires maintaining sterile technique and may involve call duties, with a commitment to our core values of safety, compassion, and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is required.
• CPR certification preferred at hire, must be obtained within 2 weeks.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon in the pediatric intraoperative phase utilizing AORN and OSA standards of practice.
• Collaborate with other healthcare team members to meet the patient/family needs in a cost‑effective manner.
• Provide customer service to patients/families, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
• Function as a team player and practice open communication with a positive, flexible attitude.
• Assist in meeting departmental goals by participating in quality improvement activities.
• Act as a role model, change agent, educator, coach, and patient advocate.
• Maintain sterile technique, prepare for each procedure with age‑appropriate instrumentation and supplies, utilize physician preference cards, and pass instrumentation.
• May be required to take call in accordance with departmental policy.
• Work both the main and south campuses.

Department Specific Job Details

• Hours: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:00a.m.–7:00p.m.
• Education: Associate’s degree in Surgical Technology required; graduate of an accredited surgical technology school.
• Certification/Licensure: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. CPR preferred at hire, must be obtained within 2 weeks of start date.
