Job Responsibilities
- Assist the surgeon in the pediatric intraoperative phase utilizing AORN and OSA standards of practice.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to meet the patient/family needs in a cost‑effective manner.
- Provide customer service to patients/families, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
- Function as a team player and practice open communication with a positive, flexible attitude.
- Assist in meeting departmental goals by participating in quality improvement activities.
- Act as a role model, change agent, educator, coach, and patient advocate.
- Maintain sterile technique, prepare for each procedure with age‑appropriate instrumentation and supplies, utilize physician preference cards, and pass instrumentation.
- May be required to take call in accordance with departmental policy.
- Work both the main and south campuses.
Department Specific Job Details
- Hours: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:00a.m.–7:00p.m.
- Education: Associate’s degree in Surgical Technology required; graduate of an accredited surgical technology school.
- Certification/Licensure: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. CPR preferred at hire, must be obtained within 2 weeks of start date.
