Job summary

Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to assist in the operating room under supervision of a Registered Nurse and physician. You will prepare instruments, maintain a sterile field, and ensure items are ready for scheduled procedures, following AORN standards.

You will mentor OR technicians, support the Team Leader in performance evaluations, and help prepare cases according to doctor preferences to meet surgeon expectations.

Qualifications

• Requires a vocational/technical degree in surgical technology.
• Experience in orthopedic and neurological procedures is preferred.
• Certification as an Accredited Surgical Technologist is preferred.

Job Summary

Provides technical services under supervision of a Registered Nurse and Physician. Under direction of a specialty Team Leader, oversees the technical aspects of specialty services (including orthopedic and neurological procedures), including composition of instrument sets, supply trials, and ensuring that all needed items are available for scheduled procedures. Demonstrates knowledge and executes AORN standards and recommendations.

Serves as a mentor for operating room technicians, helping to build a high level of technical expertise among team members, and provides input to the Team Leader for performance appraisals.

The CST prepares and assists with surgical procedures in collaboration with the Registered Nurse, pulls cases according to doctor preference cards, maintains and prepares a sterile field, and anticipates the needs of the surgeon to meet or exceed their expectations.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and assist with surgical procedures in collaboration with the Registered Nurse.
• Pull cases according to doctor preference cards.
• Maintain and prepare sterile field.
• Maintain knowledge of surgical procedures.
• Anticipate needs of the surgeon and assist by passing instruments, sutures, etc.
• Mentor operating room technicians and assist the Team Leader with performance appraisals.
• Execute AORN standards and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Vocational/Technical Degree in an accredited Surgical Technology Program (required).
• 1+ year of experience, with orthopedic and neurological experience preferred.
• Licenses and certifications: Accredited Surgical Technologist Program (preferred).
