Job summary

Riverside Health System is seeking a Surgical Technologist to assist in the Operating Room under supervision of the RN and Nurse Manager. You will help prepare and maintain equipment, ensure aseptic conditions, and support the surgical team throughout procedures across multiple specialties.

Responsibilities include coordinating supplies, updating preference cards, and participating in quality and training activities. Virginia licensure and CPR/BLS are required on hire.

Qualifications

• 2 years Surgical Tech experience (Required).
• 1 year Surgical Tech experience at Riverside Health System (Required).
• The Surgical Technologist Level III must scrub five or more surgical specialties.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with physicians to provide for the specialized needs of the surgical patient.
• Monitor and support department needs including flexing and shift changes.
• Maintain aseptic environment and document breaks in technique according to standards.
• Ensure safe practices per National Patient Safety Goals and RHS policies.
• Maintain and update preference cards and communicate changes.
• Build collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Participate in supply utilization reviews and cost containment.
• Support training of team members and students.
• Assist perioperative nurses and manage specimens and surgical counts.
