Job summary

Holy Cross Hospital Jordan Valley in Utah is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech to work under surgeons and RNs, ensuring the operating room remains organized, sterile, and ready for safe, efficient procedures. Daily duties include arranging and inventorying sterile instruments, passing items to surgeons and nurses, and assisting with patient preparation and transport.

You will sterilize instruments and rooms between cases and maintain strict sterile technique.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D.
• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program.
• Current Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association.
• Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. * A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech
• Certification in Surgical Technology from the NBSTSA or NCCT

Responsibilities

• Performs counts with circulator prior to the operation, before incision is closed and as needed.
• Prepare back table and mayo stand anticipating needs of the surgeon and through the use of the surgeon’s preference card.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
• Ability to provide oncall coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policy.
• Anticipates possible problems or complications that could arise during case.
• Adjusts quickly and prepares for emergent cases that change workflow.
