Job summary

UT Health Jacksonville in Jacksonville, TX is seeking a day shift, full-time Certified Surgical Tech (CST) to join our operating room team. The role requires graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program and current CST certification.

You will function as the primary scrub technologist for a range of procedures, maintain sterile fields with aseptic technique, and ensure patient safety. BLS is required within 14 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Current CST certification (NBSTSA/NCCT or TDSHS-approved).
• BLS certification obtained within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Functions as primary scrub technologist for routine and complex procedures.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgical team based on anatomy and procedure.
• Maintains sterile field using aseptic technique to ensure a safe, aseptic, and cost effective environment.

Responsibilities:

• Functions as primary scrub technologist for a variety of routine and complex procedures, while consistently demonstrating clinical skills with confidence and competence.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgical team based on knowledge of human anatomy and pathophysiology and how they relate to the surgical patient and procedure.
• Individual is responsible for ensuring, along with other surgical team members, that they maintain the sterile field, applying aseptic technique principles to ensure a safe, aseptic, and cost effective environment to all patients .

Qualifications:

Job Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program and hold current certification with
  one of the following: The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, the
  National Center for Competency Testing or another surgical technologist certification
  program approved by the Texas Department of State Health Service.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements

• Technical/Vocational degree
• Two years of operating room experience
