Job summary

This role involves assisting the surgeon during procedures, utilizing robotic and laparoscopic technologies, and ensuring patient care before and after surgery. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED and be certified as a First Assistant through NBSTSA. Additional qualifications include a strong understanding of surgical procedures and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic surgical environment.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Certification as a First Assistant through NBSTSA is required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience required.

Responsibilities

• Communicate the surgeon’s preferences and specific patient needs to the surgical team.
• Position the patient to provide necessary exposure for the procedure.
• Provide intraoperative skills such as visualization, trocar insertion, and hemostasis.
• Have knowledge of all open, laparoscopic, and robotic equipment necessary.
• Utilize appropriate suturing techniques according to surgeon preference.
• Provide postoperative skills in patient care.
