Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Certified Surgical Assistant to support the operating room team with setup, positioning, retraction, suturing, and postop care. The role requires a CAAHEP-accredited program graduate and an active Surgical Assistant license, plus BLS certification.

Base pay is market-competitive with sign-on bonus up to $15,000 for qualified candidates, and shifts vary.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Assistant Program.
• Surgical Assistant license required for the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
• Prior Surgical Assistant experience strongly preferred.

Responsabilités

• Assist the surgeon with equipment, table setup, and positioning.
• Provide retraction for visualization and assist with suturing and closure.
• Handle intraoperative tasks, meds instillation, dressings, splints, and casts.
• Perform preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate patient care.
