Job summary

Temecula Valley Hospital is seeking a Central Sterile/Supply Technician to ensure instruments and equipment meet quality standards and to support efficient surgical services. The role involves charging equipment, maintaining sterile supplies, and assisting with decontamination and tray preparation.

The candidate should have 1 year of surgical department experience in an acute care facility and hold Sterile Processing or National Surgical Technician certification, plus current BLS.

Qualifications

  • 1 year experience in a surgical department in an acute care facility is required.
  • Sterile Processing certification or National Surgical Technician certification is required.
  • Current BLS through the American Heart Association is required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Endoscope Reprocessor certification required within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Make rounds to ensure equipment is properly charged for usage.
  • Maintain sterile or clean supplies and issue to nursing units upon request.
  • Decontaminate, assemble and wrap instruments and trays for sterilizations.
  • Assemble instrument sets and log missing instruments according to protocol.
  • Pull cases and prioritize instrumentation needs based on the surgery schedule.

Central Sterile/Supply Technician

The Central Sterile/Supply Technician will accurately perform quality control checks on instruments and equipment as well as ensure the sterilization of the instruments and equipment is up to standard.

Essential Job Duties

The Technician is responsible for making rounds to assure equipment is properly charged for usage. Accurately maintains all sterile or clean supplies and issues same to nursing units on request. The Technician should also understand and be able to demonstrate the difference in flashing techniques. They must possess the ability to accurately decontaminate, assemble and wrap instruments and trays for sterilizations along with assembling a wide variety of instrument sets along with keeping log of missing instruments and signing the instrument set list according to protocol, as assigned. In addition, the Technician will utilize/refer to surgeon preference cards when setting up trays and must demonstrate the ability to pull cases and prioritize instrumentation needs based on the surgery schedule.

Qualifications

CERTIFIED SPD TECH

  • One (1) year experience in surgical department in an acute care facility required
  • Sterile Processing certification or National Surgical Technician certification required
  • Current BLS obtained through AHA (American Heart Association) required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Certified Endoscope Reprocessor certification required within one year of employment required
