Job summary

The Ambulatory Surgery Center at St. Mary is seeking a Full-Time Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST) four days a week to support sterile processing operations.

The role involves decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. You will report to the Director of Nursing and be part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment with no weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Sterile Processing experience.
  • CRCST or CSPDT certification required.
  • Knowledge of sterilization methods, biological monitoring and instrument tracking.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of instruments and equipment.
  • Adhere to AAMI and facility standards for sterile processing and infection prevention.
  • Maintain, monitor and document sterilization cycles, indicators and quality assurance records.
  • Follow safety policies and keep the department clean, stocked, and organized.
  • Participate in staff meetings and complete mandatory education within deadlines.
  • Support colleagues and adapt to new ideas and approach as needed.

JOB SUMMARY

The Certified Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment.


Reports To:

Director of Nursing


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 2 years of Sterile Processing experience
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification REQUIRED
  • Knowledge of sterilization methods, biological monitoring, and instrument tracking.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE

Category I exposure to blood borne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards, cleaning agents, and sterilization equipment may encounter radiation hazards.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment. Adheres to AAMI and facility standards for sterile processing and infection prevention. Maintains, monitors and documents sterilization cycles, biological indicators, chemical indicators, and quality assurance records.

  • Keeps the Sterile Processing Department clean, organized, and adequately stocked.

  • Follows infection prevention, employee safety, and hazardous waste policies

  • Attends all mandatory in-services and participates in staff meetings.
